Mid-day, waiting outside of the court
How can anyone walk free?
Everyone's guilty of something
Thinking, is speeding really that bad?
You need your licence for work, not that you're worried 'bout money
You told me when you're older, you'll live in Hawaii
But you're in no rush
You still have forever
But forever's not too long
Driving, we're always driving around
Waiting for our lives to start
Sharing our time with eachother
Playing, 21 questions in the car
I was like nervous all along
You're never worried 'bout nothin and
We're sitting in a drive through
When you ask me
What would it feel like if we kissed?
I thought, we still have forever
But forever's not too long
Forever's not too long
Forever's not too long
Life passes when you're waiting for something to happen
One day it runs out
So spend all your time chasing what sets you on fire
Before that time comes
We can drive forever hoping something will
Come and change our lives
But forever will pass by so quick
'Cause forever's not too long
Forever's Not Too Long was written for a friend that I shared a special time with. I wrote a song a few years earlier about the same friend that I felt didn't actually represent my memory of them, so I wanted to write this one about the good times we shared; mostly driving around, talking about our dreams, playing 21 questions. Writing about this got me thinking about how sometimes even the relationships you think will be there forever can change, and you really have to try to appreciate these special times while you're experiencing them. So this song is basically about how they were always cool and I was always stressing about things, running out of time being one of those things.
